Hair loss, also known as alopecia or baldness, refers to a loss of hair from part of the head or body. Any part of body comes under its defination but its presentation most commonly found in head.
TYPES OF ALOPECIA:-
Alopecia areata - starts suddenly and causes hair loss in patches anywhere in the body in children and young adults. This condition is also known as ‘spot baldness’. This condition is observed to run in families and experts believe this condition could be the result of autoimmune disease, where the immune system of the body mistakenly attacks the hair follicles.
Involutional alopecia - is a natural process, wherein, hair thinning occurs with age.
Androgenic alopecia - is a genetic condition. Men with this condition suffer from what is commonly known as male pattern balding, which can start during late teens or their early 20s. Receding hairline is a characteristic of this alopecia.
Alopecia totalis - is an autoimmune disorder and occurs when a person experiences total loss of hair on the head, and face, including eyebrows and eyelashes.
Alopecia universalis - is also an autoimmune disorder in which there is total hair loss all over the body, including eyebrows, eyelashes, and pubic hair. It is considered to be the most severe form of alopecia areata.
Alopecia barbae - is loss of facial hair and affects men, specially as it causes hairless patches in beards.
Traction alopecia - If the hair is tied regularly for too long, it can lead to prolonged traction alopecia, and the hair on the affected areas may never grow back.
SYMPTOMS / FEATURES OF ALOPECIA :-
The symptoms of alopecia or hair loss include:
1. excessive hair loss ( more than 150 hairs a day) from the scalp2.2. hair loss from other parts of the body, apart from your head
3. thinning of hair on the head, especially scalp
4. a receding hairline
5. patches of broken hairs
6. an M shaped pattern in front of your head, just above your forehead, leaving the crown of the head exposed
HOMOEOPATHIC TREATMENT OF ALOPECIA/ BALDNESS/ HAIRLOSS
Fluoricum acidum
Itching of the head and falling off of the hair; the new hair is dry and breaks off.
The hair comes out in lumps, leaving bare patches; eyelashes also fall out; frequent frontal headache.
Ammonium muriaticum
Large accumulation of branlike scales, with falling off of the hair, which has a deadened and lustreless appearance, with great itching of the scalp. Antimonium crudum
Losing hair from nervous headaches. Arsenicum album
Touching the hair is painful; bald patches at or near the forehead; scalp covered with dry scabs and scales, looking rough and dirty, extending sometimes even to forehead, face and ears. Baldness, especially of the crown, in young people; scalp very sensitive to touch, aggr. from scratching.
Calcarea carbonica
Hair falls out, especially when combing; dryness of hair; great sensitiveness of scalp, with yellowish or white scales on scalp; sensation of coldness of outer head. Cantharis vesicatoria
Hair falls out when combing, especially during confinement and lactation; scales on scalp; enormous dandruff. Carbo vegetabilis
Falling out of hair after severe diseases or abuse of mercury, with great sensitiveness of scalp to pressure; hair falls out more on back of head, after severe illness or parturition. China officinalis
Hair sweats much (Bry.) and falls out. Colchicum autumnale
