1.       Insulin increases:-

3.       Insulin is secreted by: Beta cells of pancreas

4.       In fetus, secretion of insulin begins by: 3 months

5.       Insulin secretion is inhibited by: Epinephrine

6.       Delta cells of pancreas secrete: Somatostatin

7.       Hormones acting on intracellular nuclear receptors:

             a. Steroids,

             b.Thyroid hormones,

             c. Vitamin D etc.

8.       cGMP mediates action of: NO (cellular signalling molecule)

9.       Insulin acts throught: -Tyrosine kinase activity

13.   Effect of parathormone:

a.       Stimulates osteoclastic activity,

b.     Augments absorption of calcium from the gut

14.   Effect of calcitonin:

       a. Opposite to that of PTH,

       b. Lowers serum calcium,

        c.Acts by decreasing osteoclasis (bone resorption)

15.   Active form of calcium: Ionized form

16.   A decrease in concentration of free calcium ions inplasma results in:

       a. Increased neuromuscular irritability & tetani,

       b. Chvostek's sign etc.

17.   ECG finding of hypocalcemia: Lengthening of the QT interval

18.   ACTH & TSH are secreted by: Anterior pituitary gland

Vasopressin & oxytocin are released by: Posterior pituitary gland
